ASIANHOOPS.COM, would like to invite your team to participate in the 2025 March Badness basketball tournament to be held on Saturday & Sunday, March 15 & 16, 2025 at Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ and Open Gyms, Oakland, NJ This tournament looks to bring Asian basketball teams from the East Coast together for a day of competitive basketball, friendships and fun. HOW TO SIGN
UP
DEADLINE: March 2, 2025 or earlier. Teams
will be only accepted to play in the tournament when payment is
received and confirmed. If payment
is made and division is filled, a refund will be given.
Please note that only a limited of spots are available in each division due to court limitations Teams interested should follow the registration procedures to ensure a spot for your team. No spots can be held without payment.
NOTE: Teams will be accepted on a first paid basis. Payment by paypal or Chase Quickpay/Zelle will be accepted. Absolutely, no payments will be accepted on the day of the tournament. Minimum of four (4) teams to host any division of play.
COSTS: Each team is guaranteed to play in at least three (3) games throughout the weekend with teams advancing to the playoffs/championship round playing in 4-5 games.

After payment, please send an email to rockits@asianhoops.com with your team name and division playing in so that I can reserve a place for your team. Your team is accepted to play after a confirmation email is sent to your team.
ROSTERS/WAIVERS: will be done electronically. After receipt of payment, a link will be sent to the Coach/Manager to submit a team roster. Please follow the instructions. Once completed, players will then receive an email for them to register individually. You as the coach, team manager or person registering team is responsible for making sure players submit their waivers IMMEDIATELY.
Signed, completed final
rosters/waivers are
due no later than Wednesday,
March 5th as this is
required by the facilities for insurance purposes. This will ensure
ample time for any player eligibility issues.
Attention Coaches/Organizers of youth teams:
In order to be fair to all teams participating, we will be randomly
checking Player I.D.s for proof of age/ethnicity. Coaches and
players should have a copy of each player's passport or birth
certificate with them or a picture on their phone on tournament
day. Players that are declared ineligible will be disqualified
immediately and the team will forfeit any wins that the non-eligible
player participated in.
SCOREKEEPING: (all teams will be required to assist with scorekeeping
at least 1-2 times during the day).

MEN'S OPEN (limit 4-8 teams) - this is where teams from New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Toronto and the east coast compete for bragging rights. This is the division where many former/current high school/college standouts compete against the best. Bring it on. (competitive)
BOYS 18-UNDER (limit 4-8 teams) - It's the boys chance to shine as the best up and coming ballers get to showcase their skills.

GIRLS 18u (limit 4 teams) - a chance for
those up and coming ballers to compete against those in the same
age group
YOUTH ELIBIBILITY CUTOFF: After careful consideration, in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play the cut off date for player eligibility for this tournament will be December 15, 2024 This means that each division will be competed evenly amongst players who are all of the same age.
Boys 10U: 10 or Under as
of March 15, 2025
Boys 12U: 12 or Under as of March 15, 2025
Boys 14U: 14 or Under as of March 15, 2025
Boys 16U: 16 or Under as of March 15, 2025
Boys 18U: 18 or Under as of March 15, 2025
In other words, anyone who turns 11/13/15/17/19 before March 15, 2025 will not be eligible to participate in the in each of their respective age divisions Boys 12/14/16/18.
TOURNAMENT
FORMAT - subject to change
4 TEAM DIVISION: Each team is guaranteed to play
in three games in the tournament. The team with the best record
at the completion of the three games will be declared the DIVISION
CHAMPION.
6 TEAM DIVISION: Each team is guaranteed to play in three games in the tournament. Teams will be divided into two groups of three teams. Each team will play the other two teams in their group during the preliminaries. After completion of these two games, your team will be seeded 1st, 2nd or 3rd according to your won-loss record. The top two teams from each group will advance into the playoff/championship round. The third seeded teams from each group will play a consolation game.
8 TEAM DIVISION: Each team is guaranteed to play in three games in the tournament. Teams will be divided into two groups of 4 teams. 1st game:team 1 plays team 2 and team 3 plays team 4; 2nd game: winner 1-2 game vs loser 3-4 game and winner 3-4 game vs loser of 1-2 game. Immediately following the end of the 2nd game for all teams, reseeding will take place to determine seeds 1 thru 4 in each group. Seeds 1 and 2 from each group advance into the semifinal and championship round. Seeds 3 from each group will compete against other for 5th place. Seeds 4 will compete against each other for 7th place.
AWARDS: Divisions with 5+ teams receive individual trophies; Divisions with 4 or less teams receive team trophy.

WHO CAN PLAY: ELIGIBILITY: Only players of at least 25% East/Southeast Asian descent are eligible to participate in the tournament. The definition of a player of East/Southeast Asian decent is as follows: at least one parent must be of 50% East/Southeast Asian heritage. (Nationalities are as follows: Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Burmese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporeans and Japanese) The burden of proof is on the player. If a player's eligibility is challenged, then he/she must present documentation that is legible (questions - please email us).

RULES, REGULATIONS, and TOURNAMENT FORMAT
High School federation rules apply in all
games subject to the following modifications:
1. Each team will play in at least three games throughout the
tournament. Upon completion of the preliminaries, teams will advance
into the playoff round dependent of their seeding.
2. The length of each game is either 16 or 18 minutes per half.
The first half is running time with the last 15 seconds stop time.
The last two minutes of the game is stop time. During the last
minute, the clock stops on all made baskets and any whistles by
the referee.
3. Overtime will be as follows: 2 minutes total with the last
minute=stop time.
4. Each team will be entitled to two (2) time outs per game. They
do not carry over into overtime. Each team is allowed one time
out in the overtime period. Halftime is two (2) minutes.
5. One and one situation will be in effect on the seventh (7)
team foul. Two shots will be awarded on the tenth (10) team foul.
Players may enter the free throw lane on the release of the ball,
while the shooter waits until it hits. The 4-2 rule will be in
effect.
6. Each team must begin the game with five players. After fouling
out, a player may not reenter
7. Each player is allowed five (5) personal fouls and on the fifth
foul that player will be disqualified. If a team has less than
five players on the court, they can continue to play or forfeit
or until the team has less than two players.
8. Flagrant fouls will be penalized with foul shots and/or ejection
from the tournament. Fighting is strictly forbidden and players
and/or teams may be disqualified from the tournament. The following
penalties will be assessed immediately: 1st fight - player or
players will be disqualified from the tournament. 2nd fight -
team will be disqualified from the tournament. Other penalties
to follow.
9. A team not ready to start their game will forfeit. Teams are
required to be present (1/2 hour prior) at the designated court
for their game.
10. Each team must wear uniforms that are of the same color and
with numbers designated on the front or back. Failure to do so
will result in technical fouls for each player without the proper
color and a number. Each team should have two sets of colored
shirts (one light color and one dark color).
11. When asked, all participants must be able to present some
type of photo identification (passport, birth certificates, etc.)
that proves their age or nationality. If a protest is lodged,
the burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise. Failure to do
so will result in your disqualification from the game and tournament.
All protests must be lodged by the coach and/or team captain by
notifying the tournament coordinator in the respective gym before
the start of any scheduled game.
12. Players may play on more than one team as long as it is not
in the same age division (youth divisions only). However, players
are only allowed to play for a team that's part of their own organization
and only if that team has less than seven players. If you have
7 players on that team, you can add 1 player; if you have 6 players
on that team, you can add two players. Please inform the tournament
coordinator prior to doing this. This rule does not apply to Men's
divisions.
13. After the jump ball to begin the game, all ties ups will be
decided by the alternate possession rule.
14. NO DUNKING IS PERMITTED DURING ANY WARM UP TIME OR ANYTIME,
EXCEPT DURING THE GAME. Teams will be assessed technical fouls
for this infraction.
15. TEAM FORFEITS: Any team that forfeits a game either by not
showing up on time or walking off the court during a game may
be disqualified from the tournament pending the approval of the
tournament director. Teams not ready to start at the scheduled
start time will be assessed a 2 point penalty for every minute
up to a total of 5 minutes at which time a forfeit will be declared.
16. Tie breaking Procedure: two-team tie - head to head,
win/loss between the two teams tied. (In the case that the teams tied did not play each
other, team with best point differential will be determine tie
break). Three-team tie - head
to head among three teams tied, then total point differential
of the three teams tied against each other to determine the first
seed. If two teams are tied after this, go back to head to head.
Further ties, total point differential of teams in your division.
Four team ties - settle the highest ranking team first, then revert
back to three team tie break rules, and so on. Point differential
is capped at maximum of twenty (20) per game.
17. Only players

Players of South Asian descent (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladesh)
will be accepted to play on a case to case basis (proof of ethnicity
will be required in advance) in the following divisions: Boys
18+ and all men's divisions. Contact the tournament coordinator
at prior to registration.
18. Food and Drink: please throw all garbage in there proper receptacles.
19. Conduct: Each team is responsible for the conduct of its players,
fans, etc. There is a zero tolerance policy regarding fighting
and acts of violence. Any player or team personnel committing
an act of violence will be (i) ejected from the game, (ii) disqualified
for the remainder of the tournament and (iii) asked to leave the
venue immediately. If circumstances warrant, violators will be
remanded to local law enforcement authorities. Also, at tournament
staff/directors discretion, any player, coach, team support personnel,
tournament participant, or fan exhibiting conduct unbecoming to
the event may be subject to disqualification from the tournament
and ejection from venues at any time.
20. Eligibility Protest Procedures: Teams must submit eligibility
protest to referee and tournament coordinator prior to the start
of game Each protest must include a fee of $50 in cash payable
to the tournament organizer. If protest is valid and upheld, your
$50 will be refunded. If your protest is invalid or you are wrong,
then the $50 will not be refunded.
21. Work Teams: Teams are required to work their assigned games
(1-2 times) during preliminary play and during the playoff/consolation
round of the tournament. We appreciate your help as this will
help make the tournament run smoother.
22. Closely Guarded: When a player is legally guarded by a defensive
player within 6 feet, that player shall not hold the ball for
five seconds or dribble for 5 seconds.
